Gestern sind wir auf meist geraden Strassen nach Ketmanshoop gefahren, zum einkaufen. Dumm nur das Samstags alles um 13:00 zu hat. Geld holen mit meiner Visa Karte geht auch nicht, ist gesperrt. Der Campingplatz war mal sehr schön, offensichtlich haben jetzt Schwarze das Kommando, überall liegt Müll und Zeug rum, die Klotür geht von innen nicht mehr auf, der Pool ist seit Tagen unbenutzt weil die Pumpe nicht geht. Aber er kostet 280 N$, stolzer Preis. Als Babsi meckert weil sie nicht aus dem Klo kommt, sagt die Managerin, wissen wir alles, unser Problem ist, wir bekommen nichts fertig. Also gehen wir woanders essen und bleiben nur 1 Tag. Die meisten Schwarzen hier sind arm, nicht weil sie schwarz sind, sondern doof und faul, kann man leider nicht anders sagen. Bei uns wären die alle arbeitslos, die hätten keine Chance. Also fahren wir weiter, immer noch durch meistens gerade Strassen nach Grünau.
Yesterday we drove to Keetmanshoop, on mostly straight and boring roads to shop. What we did not know, all shops close on Saturday at 1pm. Getting money with my Visa does not work either, Card is blocked. The Campground was very nice, but apparently now blacks have taken over, everywhere is rubbish, stuff and unfinished jobs, the Toiletdoor cannot be open from the inside and the Pool is unsused for days as the pump is out. But they ask for 280 N, which is pretty steep. When Babsi complained, because she could not get out of the Loo, the Manager told her, they know all of that, but their problem is, they dont get anything finished or done. So, we eat somewhere else and move on after one day. Most blacks here are poor, not because they are black, but because they are stupid and lazy, you cannot say this any other way. They would all be jobless in Germany, no chance they could compete. So we keep driving to Grünau, still on mostly straight roads.
In der Ferne liegen die großen und die kleinen Karasberge, wir müssen da über einen Pass über 1500m. Schöne Abwechselung zum Geradeaus.
In the distance we can see the big and small Karas Mountains. We need to get over a 1500m pass to cross them. Nice for a change from the straight roads so far.
In Grünau biegen wir nach Westen auf eine unbefestigte, aber ganz gute Strasse in Richtung der großen Schlucht. Sind noch 70km, und es ist der einzige Weg dahin.
In Grünau we turn to the west on a Gravelroad, but reasonable smooth, in direction of the big Canyon. It is another 70k and thats the only way to get there.
Wir waren schon mal hier, aber dennoch ist es wirklich erstaunlich das man von dem ganzen Ding 50m vor dem Aussichtspunkt nichts sehen kann. Und dann öffnet sich dieses riesige Loch. Einziges Problem, es ist unerträglich warm, 40 Grad.
We have been here before, but is it still astonishing, that you cannt see anything from this Canyon until you get as close as 50m to the Viewpoint. And then this huge holes opens up in front of you. Only problem, it is stinking hot, 40 Degrees.
Wir sind ungefähr 700m über dem Tal, und da unten wird es im Sommer über 50 Grad warm. Ins Tal ist daher strengsten verboten, im Winter machen sie aber da einen Volkslauf, nach Ai-Ais, etwa 80 weit. Das ist der zweitgrößte Canyon der Welt, nicht so tief aber dafür ziemlich lang. Ai_ais reimt sich nicht umsonst auf, es ist heiß.
We are approx 700m above the valley and it gets ridiculous hot down there in sommer, over 50 Degrees. Therefore it is not allowed to go there, but in Winter they do a running event to Ai-Ais, close to 80k, This is the second largest Canyon in the world, not that deep but very long.
Ausser dem Canyon gibts hier nichts, der Rest is wieder mal Mondlandschaft.
Beside the Canyon, there is nothing, all Lunar surfice.
Wir bleiben auch nicht lange, ohne Klimanlage hält man das nicht aus und daher fahren wir weiter nach Ai-Ais. Das liegt am Ende der Schlucht und heißt brennendes Wasser. Da kommt 60 Grad warmes Mineralwasser aus dem Boden und man kann ein warmes Bad nehmen. Das ist so ziemlich das letzte wonach uns der Sinn im Moment steht. Die Strasse ist ziemlich Scheiße und die 60km dauern ewig.
We do not stay long, without Aircon, this is unbearable and so we move on to Ai-Ais, this means burning water. Mineral water comes out at 60 Degree and you can take a hot bath, which is the last thing on our mind right now. The road is 60k and really fucked, it takes ages to get there.
Das einzige was hier noch wächst sind Köcherbäume, die sind irgendwie nicht von dieser Welt und halten das aus, auch ohne Wasser.
The only thing growing here are Quivertrees, those are not from this world and can stand this climate even without water.
Wir steigen jetzt auf 200m über Meer ab und wenn das eben schon Mondlandschaft war, ist das hier vom Mars. Am schlimmsten ist, es wird noch wärmer, obwohl es schon 18:00 Uhr ist. Ich fürchte heute bekommen wir das Bier nicht kalt genug zum trinken. amibia benutzt
We descend down to 200 above normal and if the landscape before was from the Moon, this is from Mars. The worst part of all this, it gets even warmer despite we have already 6pm. I really fear that we cannot get the beer cold enough to drink it.
Ausser uns ist noch ein Camper mit Zelt hier, die armen Schweine. Es ist so heiß das die Hitzesicherung meiner Kabeltrommel auslöst, obwohl sie ganz abgewickelt ist, ich muß das andere Kabel nehmen. Um 20:00 Uhr haben wir draussen 38 Grad, nachts um 3 immer noch 28. Ohne Klima kann man hier nicht schlafen. Wir gehen in den Pool, aber der hat auch über 30 Grad, auch die kalte Dusche ist so warm das man sich fast verbrennt. So wird Australien in ein paar Jahren sein.
Wir gehen Essen und trinken viel kaltes, zwischendurch gibts sogar ein bißchen Regen aber keine Abkühlung. Eigentlich wollten wir 2 Tage bleiben, aber das hier ist zuviel, morgen fahren wir wieder nach Swakopmund, egal wie weit das ist.
Besides us there is one othercamper with a Tent, poor souls. It is so hot, the heatfuse of my cabledrum releases and i have to use the other cable. At 8pm, we have still 38 Degrees, at 3am we still have 28. Without climate you cannot sleep here. We try the Pool, but the water is over 30 Degrees and even the cold shower is so hot, it nearly burns you. This is what Aussie will be in a few years. Initially we wanted to stay for two nights, but this is too much, tomorrow we drive back to Swakopmund, it does not matter how far that ist.
Mittlerweile weiß ich auch warum meine Karte nicht mehr geht,man hat die Daten kopiert und in Windhoek benutzt um Geld abzuheben. Wir haben die Karte 4x benutzt, 2x um Geld abzuheben und 2x um zu bezahlen. Die Diebe haben 25 Euro erbeutet, dann hat Visa die Karte gesperrt. Der Schaden ist nicht so hoch, aber die Karte kann nicht mehr aktiviert werden. Wir haben ja noch eine.
Meanwhile i know why my Visa did not work, the Card is blocked. Someone has copied the data and used it to retriev money in Windhoek. We uses the Card 4 times in Namibia, 2x for retrieving money at an ATM and for two payments. The damage is not big, but the card cannot be activated. We have one more.
