Wir verlassen Swakopmund bei typischen Wetter in Richtung Süden, nachdem wir nochmal unsere Vorräte aufgefrischt haben. Das ist für länger die letzte größere Stadt in Namibia für uns.

We leave Swakopmund at typical weather to the south, but only after we restocked our supplies. This was the last bigger City in Namibia for some time for us.

Direkt hinter der Stadt fängt die Namib mit Ihren großen Dünen an. Bis Walvis Bay sind es nur 35 Km.

Direct beind the city is the start of the Namib with its huge Dunes. Its only 35k to Walvis Bay.

In Walvis Bay fahren wir zum Büro von Splitharbour Tours, mit denen haben wir letztes Mal eine Tour gemacht und ich habe meinen grünen Pulli da vergessen. Sie hatten wir geschrieben, das Sie den nach NZ geschickt haben, ist aber nie angekommen. Die Chancen stehen 1:100 da er noch da ist, und eher sehe ich einen Schwarzen der mit dem Pulli rumläuft, aber man kann Sie ja man erschrecken, was mir auch gelingt. Derweil jagt Babsi die Flamingos im Hafen.

We go to the office of Splitharbour tours in Walvis Bay, we made a tour with them last year and i lost my green sweater. They told me itt has been shipped to NZ, but it never turned up. I am aware that my chances are 1:100 to get it back, and i believe its more realistic to see a black in my sweater, but at least i can scare them a bit, which actually works quite well. In the meantime, Babsi chases the Flamingos in the harbour.

10k ausserhalb fängt dann die Wüste an, und wir müssen ca 200 km auf Schotter durch eine unglaubliche Landschaft fahren. Wer Wüste mag und Leere ist hier genau richtig, das ist das schönste Stück Afrika soweit.

10k outs of town the desert starts, and we have to go 200k on Gravel through an unsurreal Landscape. If you like desert and the great nothing, this is for you, the nicest piece of Africa so far.

Irgendwann hört die flache Landschaft auf und es wird hügelig.

At some point the flat area stops and hills come into view.

Wir sehen ab und zu, Strausse, Orix und Springbock, keine Ahnung von was die sich ernähren und wo die Wasser finden können.

We see a few Strauss, Orix and Springbock, no idea what they eat and where they find water.

Am Kuiseb Pass halten wir länger an. Die Strasse ist überwiegen schlecht mit ein paar guten Passagen, und das Wetter zieht sich langsam zu. Aber wir warten vergebens auf Regen.

We stop at the Kuiseb Pass. The road is most of the time really bad with a few good sections and the weather turns black. But there will be no rain.

Das könnte auch auf dem Mond augenommen sein.

Ein bißchen Achterbahn gefällig. Leider kann ich nicht so schnell fahren wie ich möchte und damit es auch wirklich Spass macht.

A little rollercoaster? Unfortunately i cant drive as fast as i would like to, to have some fun.

So langsam kommen wir dann unserem heutigen Ziel näher, es reicht uns auch schon, Das Auto ist wieder völlig zugestaubt.

Slowly we get closer to our destination for today, and we have enough. The car is totally full of dust again.

Kurz vorher passieren wir noch den Wendekreis des Steinbocks, diesmal nach Süden. Den haben wir jetzt in Afrika, Australien und Südamerika überquert. Ich weiß gar nicht ob man noch irgendwo drüberfahren kann.

Short before we cross the Tropic of Capricorn again, this time to the south. We have passed this now in Africa, Australia and South America, i have no idea if we can pass this elsewhere.

Und dann schaffen wir es gerade den Abendstau in Solitaire zu vermeiden. Leider ist der dicke Bäcker verstorben, aber die Desert Backery gibt es doch noch.

And then we just managed to avoid the eveninwg traffic in Soliaire. The huge bakerman passed away, but the backery is still going.
