Wir übernachten 10km vor dem Park und sind zeitig am Gate. Wir machen uns nicht allzuviele Hoffnungen, es ist Regenzeit und anscheinend ist an dem Gerücht, das sie etliche Tiere abgeschossen haben was dran. Die Berichte gehen von gar nichts, bis ein paar Gazellen. Wenn es nichts ist fahren wir heute abend wieder raus.
We stay 10k bevore the Gate, so we are on time there the next morning. We do not expect that much, it is rainy season and apparently there is some truth to the rumor that they shot a lot of animals lately. The news ranges from, havent seen anything to some Gazelles. If there is nothing, we will be out tonight.
1 km hinter dem Gate, am Ombiki Wasserloch sehen wir 11 Löwen die eine Giraffe verputzen, oder besser das was davon noch übrig ist. Im Grunde können wir jetzt schon wieder fahren, denn besser wird das nicht mehr.
1k behind the Gate, at the Ombiki Waterhole we see 11 Lions munching on a Giraf or whats left of it. We can drive home now, because it wont get better then that.
Da geht es ziemlich zur Sache, jeder zerrt an dem Kadaver rum und wenn einer zu nahe kommt wird gefaucht. Zum Glück sind kaum Autos da als wir ankommen, so haben wir einen Logenplatz, die vielen Autos nach uns haben nicht so viel Glück. Tja früher aufstehen Jungs. Wir hören wie in dem Auto neben uns ein paar aus dem gelobten Land sich beim Fahrer beschweren wieso man solche Autos wie unseres überhaupt reinläßt, das nächste Mal nehme wir ein größeres Auto und stellen uns quer. Ich überlege den Fahrer zu fragen wieso man solche Leute wie seine Gäste überhaupt reinläßt, aber ich darf nicht.
There is a lot going on there, everbody tugs on the cadaver and when someone gets to close, they start hissing. Lucky for us, there are not many cars there so we get a really good spot, the cars oming after us are not so lucky. Well get up earlier, boys. We can hear that a couple from the promised land in the car next to us complains to the driver how they can let cars in as ours. Next time we take a bigger one and park across. I think about asking the driver why they let people like his guests in, but i am not allowed.

Aber nicht allen steht der Sinn nach Essen, es gibt ja auch noch andere Dinge die Spaß machen, wie ein Glas Cognac und eine schöne Zigarre.
But not all of them are interested in eating, there are other things in life who are a lot of fun, like a Cognac and a nice Cigar.
Die nehmen die Sache ziemlich ernst und es geht alle 10 Minuten rund, am Ende der 10 Sekunden kriegt er immer eine geknallt und wird gebissen.
They take this very serious and get together every 10 minutes. At the end of the 10 seconds he gets one and gets bitten as well.
Sehr zur Freude unsere netten Nachbarn frühstücken wir noch bevor wird dann nach 2 Stunden den Platz räumen. Etosha ist in weiten Teilen sehr kark und mit ner Menge Wüste.
Much to the amazement of our nice neighbors, we have breakfast before we move on after 2 hours. Etosha in very dry in most parts and like desert.
Wir fahren erstmal nach Westen und finden einige größere Zebraherden die Ihren Spaß am rumtollen haben.
We move first to the West and find some herds of Zebras, enjoing running arround.
Ein paar einsame Strause kreuzen unseren Weg, aber sonst hält sich die Tierwelt in Grenzen, es gibt es allerdings deutlich weniger Tiere als im Krüger. Die Vegetation und das Klima geben nicht mehr her.
A few loney Austrich cross our path, but not much else runs arround here, there are notably less animals then in Krüger. Vegetation and the climate dont allow that many animals.
Der Weg zum Olifantsbad ist noch ziemlich naß, wir kommen zwar durch aber der Schlamm spritzt über die Scheibe da ich vorsichtshalber mit Schwung da durch fahre. Hier stecken bleiben ist keine gute Idee.
The way to the Olifantsbath is still very wet, we get through but the mud splashes up to the screen, as i hit the mud with higher speed to make sure. Getting stuck here is a very bad idea.
Am Wasserloch sehen wir drei müde Löwen und einen Tierarzt, der uns erklärt das sie einen betäubt haben weil sie dran arbeiten müssen, wir können aber gerne zuschauen.
At the Waterhole we see three tired Lions and a Vet. He explains that the sedated one because they need to work on him but we are welcome to stay and watch.
Er steigt aus, wirft Steine und keine Reaktion. Dann haut er Ihm auf den Schenkel, diesmla gibts eine Reaktion und der Tierarzt ist superschnell im Auto.Der Löwe schlept sich ein paar Meter, liegt dann wieder und bekommt noch eine Spritze. Dann scheint alles in Ordnung und sie drehen ihn um, und das Mistvieh steht doch wieder auf. Die drei springen aus dem Stand auf den Pickup, die haben eine Menge Respekt vor dem Kätzchen. Er bekommt dann noch eine Dosis mit dem Gewehr.
He gets out und throws some stones, no reaction. He hits the Lion with his hand on the back, this time there is a reaction and he jumps back into the Car. The Lions walks a few meters and falls down again, where he gets another Dose. Then it looks okay and they start working on him and turn him over and he gets up again. All three jumps in one go on the Pickup, they have a lot of respect of him and he gets another dose with the gun.

This time its enough and the manage to change the Batteries on his Gps Box.
So langsam drehen wir jetzt auf unser Camp zu und es laufen uns ein paar Giraffen über den Weg, lebendige.
Slowly we turn back to our camp and we have a few Girafe crossing our way, living ones that is.
Am nächsten Wasserloch sehen wir eine große Menge an Schwarzstörchen.
We see a lot of Black Storcks at the next Waterhole.
Und dann läuft uns auch noch eine Spitzmaulnashorn über den Weg, mit einem Kleinem hinten dran. Das ist das erste welches wir auf diesem Trip sehen, die sind wesentlich seltener als die Breitmaulnashörner.
And then we see a Black Rhino as well, with a small one in the back. These are a lot more rare then the white ones and this is the first we see on this trip.
Kurz vom Camp checken wir nochmal bei den Löwen den Stand der Dinge. Der hier kühlt sich die Weichteile, aber das ist gar nicht der, der so fleißig ist.
Short before thencamp we check on the Lions again, this one cools his important parts but its not the one using them so often.
Denn der ist immer noch im Gange, man muß schon sagen, den beneide ich nicht. Tagelang alle 10-15 Minuten muß er dran und das immer mit der selben Löwin.
Because he is still at it, you have to admire him. Days for every 10-15 Minutes he has got to wokr and all with the same Lioness.
Auf dem Campingplatz werden wir dann überfallen, zahme Erdhörnchen checken ob wir was zu Essen haben.
Then we get robbed at the Campgroud, tame Squirrels check if we have anythig to eat.
Auch einige Schakale sind offensichtlich an Menschen gewöhnt.
Also some of the Jakals are used to man.
Noch ein Check am Wasserloch, aber das ist komplett leer. Durch die Regenzeit finden die Tiere überall Wasser und müssen sich nicht in Gefahr bringen an den wenigen Löchern, wo die Löwen warten.
A quick check at the Waterhole, but that is complete empty. Due to the rainy season the animals find water everywhere and dont have to get themself in danger at the few waterholes, where the Lions wait.
